FROM ZERO TO TURBO
Turbo broke his right hind leg tibia. It was a significant spiral fracture that required an orthopaedic response. Specifically, Dr Fiona Starr and Dr Charlie Webb had to stabilise the tibia with a 30cm metal rod inserted into the shaft of the tibia that was also pinned. The result was a success though Turbo's owner, Amber Waters, had much difficulty keeping Turbo still during recovery; Turbo is young and as energetic as his name suggests.
15 March, 2018 - The Day Before Surgery
Dr Fiona Starr comes in on her day off, with her son Reuben, to discuss the approach that she and Dr Charlie Webb will take during surgery tomorrow. Until then, Turbo's leg is stabilised and he is sedated with MLK - a combination of Methodane, Lidocaine and Ketamine - to counteract the painful injury.
16 March, 2018 - Day of Surgery
Dr Fiona Starr and Dr Charlie Webb perform the long surgery to stabilise Turbo's tibia. Multiple staff assist throughout the day.
